Real Risk of an Oil Spill and its Impact on Human Health

Submitted by: North Shore NOPE

The evidence:

There is a real risk of an accident that will cause an oil spill, either at Westridge Marine Terminal or in Burrard Inlet
Evidence links exposure to oil spills to mental and physical health impacts, but there are troubling gaps in the data and science to assess impacts.
Exposure to toxic chemicals can affect the immune system, endocrine balance, damage the brain and nervous system and respiratory and cardiovascular disease, autoimmune diseases, and cancer.
