Tsleil-Waututh Nation’s Assessment of of TMX Proposal

- The Tsleil-Waututh Nation has a “sacred, legal obligation to protect, defend, and steward the water, land, air, and resources” of their territory, which includes the responsibility to “maintain and restore conditions that provide the environmental, cultural, spiritual, and economic foundation” for the Tsleil-Waututh Nation and community to prosper
- If the TMX proposal is approved, it would both threaten and have direct consequences for Tsleil-Waututh rights, title, and interests
- Overall, the report concludes that the proposal “does not represent the best use of Tsleil-Waututh territory”
